Self Portraits

After doing a project focusing on portraiture and destroyed portraiture, I had self portraits that were taken by a class mate in the college studios. I thought the lighting in these images turned out fairly well, with no use of Photoshop to edit them. These are all of the original images as they were taken off the camera.

Salmonsfest | Vicky Holmes

Towards the end of August, my sister and I travelled to Monmouth, Wales to go to Salmonsfest - held at the Three Salmons Hotel. The day turned out to be really nice after the rain we experienced on our travels. We some how ended up incredibly close to the front of the crowd and I managed to capture a fair few photos of the evening. I thought all of the bands were great and I also got to see my brother's band, Chasing Grace, perform.

These are a few of the images that I took during the evening.

I realise that they are not the best images that could be taken at a show with live music, but I am still learning new things about photography and its techniques everyday.

The Sky | Vicky Holmes

The sky is something I completely love when it isn't covered in dull cloud. I like to look up and see different things around in the sky: birds, rainbows, planes etc. Here are a few of my weather pics - unfortunately I was unable to capture any images of the crazy thunderstorm in July...

London Montages | Vicky Holmes

As part of one of my college projects, I had to interpret my own meaning of the word "montages" and create montages from that meaning. I believe that montage or collage photography is whatever you want it to be. I think that montages should be similar to those that Serge Mendzhiyskogo and David Hockney creates however, if you think differently then you could be right also.

For this project, I decided to follow in Serge Mendzhiyskogo's footsteps and shoot around the City of London from the London Eye, to Westminster, to Piccadilly Circus. Although being a little lopsided, I think that the montages that I have created are fairly interesting from a different point of view than only one image.

London | Vicky Holmes

Living in London can be a good thing and a bad thing in my opinion. I feel like I am not as grateful for everything that people are so excited about because I see tourist attractions so frequently when going around London.

I went into London a couple of weeks back with my college to visit Somerset House and the National Portrait Gallery. After that, we went off in groups and took some photographs...

Concerts | Vicky Holmes

I love going to concerts and I tend to try and always take any type of camera with me to capture some of the moments of the singer/band on stage. It becomes quite hard to take photographs of the act on stage when I am in the crowd surrounded by a ton of people but I am hoping one day I would get the chance to be a live concert photographer standing infront of the barrier, where I would be able to take photographs that are of better quality and of a closer distance.

Over the years, I have been to many concerts and these are a few of my favourite/best images that I have taken at these concerts - please don't judge as I know they aren't the best images that could be taken at concerts, it's hard when there is a risk of getting my main digital camera taken off me so I have to result to a Nikon COOLPIX L27 which doesn't take good quality images if you ask me. You will probably be able to tell from this post that I like 5SOS a lot..
